The importance of touch for
babies should not be underestimated. It is the most natural thing in the world
for new parents to stroke, cuddle, and rock their babies and massage is no more
than an extension of this desire to hold, touch and provide comfort. Not only
is massage a pleasurable bonding experience for both parent and child, but it
also encourages the baby to become responsive and sociable. Calm soothing
strokes help to ease anxiety and minimize crying and research has shown that
massage can boost a baby's immune system, lower stress levels, relieve colic
and encourage sounder and longer sleep. |
Massage for babies and children can be
just as valuable as massage for adults.
Teaching Infant Massage Parent
Courses is fun and rewarding. Instructors teach a combination of massage
techniques that are appropriate for infants. I will teach you why bath time is
not a good time to massage a newborn and what cold pressed vegetable oils are
appropriate to use on infants and many more related topics. You will be trained
to become proficient in Infant Massage and will be equipped with the skills and
knowledge to set up Infant Massage Parent Courses following successful
completion of the course.
The course is accredited by the AAPA
and comprises of 12 hours of contact tuition, infant massage project (to be
written and chosen by the student), plus completion of 6 teaching sessions with
assessment and evaluations, outside of the course. Upon satisfactory completion
of course work and teaching sessions you will be issued with a professionally
signed certificate. When qualified to this level, you are entitled to practice
as an Infant Massage Instructor.
